Leaves on the corn plants are curling up, going into moisture "conservation" mode. They look more like pineapple plants and if the lack of rain continues they'll go brown, wither and die off. All of the lawns (that dont get watered) have long gone dormant, turning brown and shutting down. It's a miracle there hasnt been any wildfires here thus far. Vegetable gardens need daily watering just to keep up and swimming pools need topping off every other week due to evaporation. The lawn, garden and pool observations aren't earth shattering and don't have a huge monetary impact, but they're still an indication of conditions. The corn observations however are obviously a financial disaster in the making for this and other farming communities. CoCoRaHS Report from Station #Mason 6.4 W on 7/5/2012
