Numerous officials from Western states appeared before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee to testify about the dangers of this year’s fire season. The White House sought $615 million from Congress for firefighting and prevention measures.
On July 15, the House Appropriations Committee approved nearly $4.1 billion for wildfire fighting and prevention, which is $150 million more than last year.
