9/19/2014 6:47:40 PM

CATEGORIES:
Fire
AFFECTED AREAS:
El Dorado County, CA

Start Date: 9/13/2014 - End Date: 9/19/2014
Firefighters battling the King Fire in El Dorado County dropped 203,000 gallons of fire retardant on the blaze on a single day, setting a new daily record, said a state fire spokeswoman. Through Sept. 19, more than 500,000 gallons of fire retardant had been dropped on the fire because normal amounts of fire retardant were not stopping the fire. Prolonged drought has turned the timber and vegetation into kindling. Associated Press (New York), Sept. 19, 2014
