AFFECTED AREAS:
Nevada County, CA
Placer County, CA

Start Date: 5/27/2014 - End Date: 12/1/2014
The Nevada Irrigation District has begun storing more water since the state water board ended its curtailment of diversions into storage. The curtailment was in effect from May 27 through Nov. 12, 2014. Auburn Journal (Calif.), Dec. 17, 2014 The Nevada Irrigation District will not deliver fall irrigation water because the district does not have enough storage and supply to do so and also because the State Water Resources Control Board curtailed thousands of water rights across the state earlier this year, leaving the district unsure of whether it has the legal right to divert and deliver water from Sierra Nevada streams. Several thousand small agricultural customers in Nevada County and parts of Placer County usually receive fall water between Oct. 15 and Dec. 1. It has been more than 20 years since the district was unable to provide water for fall irrigation. Sacramento Bee (Calif.), Oct. 29, 2014
