The Desert Water Agency began a new program to offer payment to those who replace turf with drought-tolerant landscaping in Palm Springs and parts of Cathedral City. In the first week or so of the program, about 70 applications were received. Homeowners, businesses and homeowner associations can get $2 back for the removal of each square foot of turf.
