The city of Goleta intends to save Lake Los Carneros from drying up by adding 500,000 gallons of water to the lake. The public works director says the city has enough water to accomplish the task, but the project may be reconsidered if the intense drought continues into 2015. It was down to only about 7 feet deep.
Migratory birds depend on the lake, and hikers, bird watchers and nature lovers also would like to see a healthier, fuller lake.
