Monterey County automatic irrigation systems were turned off to conserve water, and water use fell by about 50 percent. County employees’ water conservation efforts were being tracked to encourage conservation on and off the job.
Internal and inter-agency drought task forces were scheduling February and March meetings to come up with responses to drought impacts.
