A farmer in Hingham noted that the dry weather had slowed crop growth and forced her to irrigate rather than plant additional crops. A grower in East Bridgewater reported that the dry spell has prompted her to irrigate more, driving up costs for water, labor and diesel fuel. Irrigation usually is not needed until the end of June, she said.
