Deschutes County, OR

Start Date: 5/23/2015 - End Date: 9/30/2015
The Three Sisters Irrigation District can only provide 30 percent of normal water allotments in late May and could have even less to offer during the summer, said the district manager. Many farmers in the district grow hay, mainly alfalfa, and usually get three cuttings per growing season, but will likely get just one cutting this year. The water shortage will mean a loss of $1 million to $1.5 million, estimated the district manager. The Three Sisters Irrigation District provides water for about 180 farms on roughly 8,000 acres.
