Extreme wildfire activity led Gov. Jay Inslee of Washington to make an emergency proclamation for all of the state, permitting the use of critical resources to prevent and contain expected wildfires. The proclamation gave the Washington State Department of Natural Resources access to resources of the National Guard and the State Guard to help fight fires.
“The fire danger now is unlike any we’ve seen in a long time, if ever,” said the governor in a news release. “We need to be prepared for the possibility of an unprecedented fire season.”
