Grand fir trees in northern Idaho forests were dangerously overburdened with big cone loads, which can cause the tops of trees to break and fall, potentially harming or killing people below. It is believed that last summer’s drought, followed by a November windstorm, stressed trees and caused them to produce more cones than usual. Coeur d'Alene Press (Idaho), July 28, 2016
