The public boat ramps at Mountain Lake and Hunters Lake in Hernando County were temporarily closed to motorized vessels because drought has lowered the water level of the lakes. The Hernando County Waterways Department still allowed access for kayaks and canoes at Hunters Lake, but the boat ramp at Mountain Lake was closed to all users.
