Hot, dry windy weather and a spate of fires led officials with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Junction Fire Department and Bureau of Land Management to enact stage 1 restrictions. Open burning and fireworks were prohibited. Through June 22, the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to six brush fires and eight structure fires.
