The Stutsman County Commission chair signed a drought emergency declaration on July 25 as drought hammered agriculture, intensified fire activity and hurt the local economy. The entire County Commission must also sign the declaration for it to remain in effect longer than seven days. The matter will be taken up at an Aug. 1 meeting.
