The North Carolina Drought Management Advisory Council issued a moderate drought advisory for a dozen counties in the northern Piedmont. The affected counties include Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Lee, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake and Warren. The area typically receives 35 to 40 inches of rain by this time, but has only gotten 25 to 30 inches this year.
