Hay, rangeland production down in Meade County, South Dakota
12/19/2017 7:37:28 PM

CATEGORIES:
Agriculture
Plants & Wildlife
AFFECTED AREAS:
Meade County, SD

Start Date: 12/15/2017 -
Almost zero soil moisture present. Vegetative production through the 2017 growing season ranged from 1/4 to 1/2 of "normal" on my place. This is based on hayland production and rangeland production on pastures. We pulled horses off pasture in August to begin feeding hay. In a normal year, grazing lasts until early-mid October. CoCoRaHS Report from Station #Whitewood 4.4 E on 12/15/2017
