A burn ban was in effect for Brevard County and other parts of the Florida Forest Service’s Orlando District because the dry season turned unusually dry in February, leading to an increased threat of brush fires. The forest service also added a second dispatcher for its shifts to be able to handle multiple fires, if needed.
