Officials with the Lincoln National Forest were warning the public about the fire danger. Visitors to the forest were urged to watch their campfires and make sure chains were not dragging from their vehicles, according to Ryan Whiteaker, fire staff officer for the Lincoln National Forest in southeast New Mexico.
