Kansas' hard red wheat crop
5/9/2018 12:00:00 AM

CATEGORIES:
Agriculture
AFFECTED AREAS:
Kansas

Start Date: 5/4/2018 -
The Wheat Quality Council’s Hard Red Wheat Tour discovered wheat that was two to four weeks behind developmentally in northern Kansas, according to Stephanie Bryant-Erdmann, U.S. Wheat Associates market analyst. The dry conditions averted disease establishment, but also threatened yield potential. Statewide, the final average yield potential was 37.0 bushels per acre, or about 2.49 metric tons per hectare (6.61 million metric tons) for the 2018-19 Kansas hard red wheat crop. The total production estimate from the previous year was 282 million bushels. Feedstuffs (St. Charles, Ill.), May 4, 2018
