Gov. Hickenlooper activated the Colorado Drought Mitigation and Response Plan on May 2, due to persistent and prolonged drought in parts of the state. Affected counties included Montezuma, La Plata, Archuleta, Conejos, Costilla, Las Animas, Baca, Prowers, Bent, Otero, Huerfano, Alamosa, Rio Grande, Mineral, Hinsdale, San Juan, Dolores, San Miguel, Ouray, Montrose, Saguache, Custer, Pueblo, Crowley, Kiowa, Cheyenne, Lincoln, El Paso, Elbert, Gunnison, Mesa, Delta, Garfield and Rio Blanco. The Drought Task Force was activated with the first meeting taking place on May 7. The Agricultural Impact Task Force will have its first call on May 16.
