Some flowers were blooming at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, but even another half-inch of rain would do wonders, according to Betsy Knaak, executive director of the Anza-Borrego Desert Natural History Assn. Less than an inch of rain has fallen in Borrego Springs since the start of the year, compared to last year when around 4 ½ inches fell in January and February.
