Natural flows of the Rio Grande River ceased in July, but the river was still flowing due to supplemental water from the San Juan-Chama Project water from the Colorado River Basin. Albuquerque Journal (N.M.), Sept. 28, 2018 The Bureau of Reclamation was releasing water leased through the San Juan-Chama project to keep the Rio Grande River wet in the Albuquerque area. The riverbed north of Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge was a dry wash, while about 23 miles in the San Acacia reach were dry, as well as another stretch south of Isleta Pueblo.
