County officials in Hinds and Madison counties enacted burn bans, due to continued dry weather. As of Oct. 1, the Mississippi Forestry Commission listed 31 counties as having burn bans. The 31 counties were Adams, Amite, Clay, Copiah, Franklin, Hinds, Itawamba, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Lee, Lincoln, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Panola, Pike, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Rankin, Scott, Tallahatchie, Tate, Walthall, Wayne, Webster and Yazoo.
