In coming weeks, with power supplies being tight in California, fossil fuels will be used as needed to keep the state powered to avoid rolling blackouts. The Golden State could have a shortfall of up to 3,500 megawatts during peak demand hours in the next few weeks if heatwaves continue to affect the region. Gov. Gavin Newsom approved industrial energy users to operate on diesel generators and engines.
