A temporary burn ban was issued for Cape Coral to reduce the fire risk in the city. Recreational burns like fire pits and campfires are prohibited, as are permitted burns like bonfires and land clearing burns.
The burn ban will remain in effect until the drought index falls below 600 for seven consecutive days.
