Stage 1 fire restrictions took effect in Fountain and unincorporated El Paso County on April 11. Open burning, the sale or use of fireworks, and smoking outdoors are all prohibited. There are additional restrictions in Fountain.
The restrictions were introduced after a number of fires over the preceding weekend.
