Feedlot inventories were at a record high on April 1 and remained there on May 1 at 11.967 million head, a record for the month, and 2% higher than May 2021. April feedlot placements, totaling 1.809 million head or down 1% from April 2021, when analysts expected April placements to be nearer to 3% lower than last year.
The most significant factor in the feedlot placements is thought to be drought in the Southern Plains.
