Portola Redwoods State Park will close its campground facilities with 55 sites on Aug. 5 through the remainder of the season due to low flows in its main water supply, Peters Creek. Park operations rely on the water for restrooms, showers, drinking water and fire suppression. Drought forced similar closures in 2014, 2015, and 2021.
