Smaller apples in southeast South Dakota

Apples grown in southeast South Dakota were about 30% to 40% smaller as little rain has fallen since May. Drought stressed the trees, causing them to abort some apples. Some of the smaller apples were also removed to allow the remaining apples to grow larger. Harmful insects were more prevalent.
