Sweet potato growers in Mississippi report that the quality of the crop was the best in 20 years. Potatoes that were transplanted in May were great, but those transplanted in early June and later suffered from heat and a lack of rain. Soil surface temperatures reached 160 degrees during the latter part of the potato transplant.
