Grain shipments on the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway were around 25 percent ahead of 2021, partially due to drought conditions on the Mississippi River and Russia’s war in Ukraine. Through October, Great Lakes ports shipped 934,000 metric tons of grain on the Seaway, about 25% more than at the same time in 2021, with shipments bound for an estimated 18 countries.
