Lack of rain left adventure farm with short corn maze in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

AFFECTED AREAS:
Lancaster County, PA

Start Date: 7/2/2023 -
An adventure farm has their corn planted a week before Memorial Day so it could grow to at least five feet tall by the time the farm opened for the summer. Two to three weeks without rain left the corn growing slowly so that the corn was just one to two feet tall on opening day. The farm owner noted the corn was the shortest it had ever been in the past 28 years. More rain would help the maze grow taller like it ought to be. “It’s the challenge of the maze, not necessarily the height of the corn right now,” said the maze supervisor.
