Farmers on either side of the Mississippi River in Minnesota and Wisconsin report only meager rainfall from early May through July 22. Crop germination may have failed or been inconsistent. The height of corn plants varies by several feet. Soybeans were smaller than usual. Herbicides did not get enough moisture to activate.
