Some Dickinson County farmers opted to swath and bale their soybeans instead of cutting it for silage because the soybeans were already too dry for making silage. Appraisals for some fields were zero to three bushels per acre. After a second year of drought, farmers were struggling to continue to generate income as they strive to figure out alternate ways to feed livestock and get some kind of value out of their crops.
