In March 2023, paleontologists found bonebeds in the Navajo Sandstone near Lake Powell that held rare fossils of synapsid reptiles, which are reptiles with mammal-like features that lived at least 180 million years ago. The discovery could shed some light on the connection between mammals and reptiles. AZ Central (Phoenix, Ariz.), Oct 17, 2023
