Dryland farmers in eastern Nebraska anticipated major yield losses from drought, while farmers with irrigation capacity were watering nonstop. Low hay yields were another concern. The farmer would usually have 200 to 225 large round bales toward the end of June, but had about 10. He had begun moving cattle off of pasture and were going to sell spring and fall herds in July for lack of pasture hay.
