A livestock producer in Hartford, Windsor County, Vermont has 15 angus cows and is trying to expand the herd. Hay production has amounted to just 162 round bales, in comparison to the 300 round bales that he typically gets. He abandoned a second cutting of hay and let the livestock graze fields. The surplus hay would normally be sold, but this year he won’t have much to spare and anticipated having to put out silage for the cows about a month and a half early.
