Kentucky farmers saw dry conditions in the spring and feared a dry year.
Corn grown in LaRue County was brown, contributing to smaller kernels and ears and a poor harvest. One farmer expected to lose about $1.5 million.
The soybeans, which ought to be about waist high, were only knee high.
