As drought continued to worsen in New York, more counties were included in drought warnings. Jefferson, Oswego, Wayne and parts of northern Cayuga counties were some of the additions to the drought warning category. 9WSYR (Syracuse, N.Y.), Oct 9, 2025 Gov. Kathy Hochul and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced a drought warning was issued for 12 counties in the Adirondack and Southern Tier regions and a drought watch was expanded to include the six counties in the Susquehanna region. All of New York State was in a drought watch or warning, except for New York City and Westchester County. Rome Sentinel (N.Y.), Sep 24, 2025
