AFFECTED AREAS:
Addison County, VT

Start Date: 9/25/2025 -
Farmers in Vermont’s dairy country have not gotten as much hay as usual due to weather extremes. Spring rain delayed the first cutting, and drought limited growth for subsequent cuttings. Corn for cattle feed was about half as tall as usual in some areas. An Orwell, Vermont dairy farmer stated that the grass had not grown since July. He has hauled water from a creek, sometimes twice daily, for his thirsty dairy cattle. The Boston Globe (Mass.), Sep 25, 2025
