Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont declared a stage 2 drought advisory for Fairfield, Middlesex, and New Haven counties. Stage 2 is to promote awareness that an emerging drought could intensify. The rest of Connecticut remained in stage 1. The Connecticut Interagency Drought Workgroup met on Oct. 2 and made the stage 2 recommendation based on precipitation, surface waters, groundwater, reservoirs, soil moisture, vegetation, and fire danger conditions.
